Retired C/Engineer Mike Davis
13/05/2020 18:35:42my Grandfather (Edward George Davis) was master of Carpentaria when her rudder stock fractured. The ship's company managed to jury rig the rudder by securing it to two of the cargo wiches right aft and steering the ship to port. I believe that he, the chief Officer and Chief Engineer were rewarded by Lloyd's Register with watches that rang the time with internal bells.
