Life on Board |
In Sept.1987 we had a lovely time aboard the Arafura sailing from Yokohama to Sydney. As we had to evade some typhoons south of Japan, the trip lasted two full weeks instead of 10 days. We were spoiled by the crew who invited us to join them in their lounge. My wife organized calligraphy lessons for the young officers, who surprised us by presenting me with a diploma whem we passed the equator. Sailing on the endless empty Pacific is something we still remember with awe. And now the Arafura is scrapped.
