P&O Pencillings

In 1891 the artist and illustrator, William Whitelock Lloyd, boarded a P&O Jubilee Class ship bound for India via Suez. En route he captured the humour and subtleties of life on board a P&O steamer in a series of enchanting drawings which were published for the company under the title P&O Pencillings in 1892. The "Pencillings" were also made into a set of glass lantern slides.
