Liner Life in the 1960s was a curious mix of absolute control and fearless freedom. Strict rules governed the conduct of women on board but breaking them, without being caught, was half the fun... Successfully navigating life at sea meant braving the banter, teasing and tormenting and, wherever possible, seizing the adventure. 

 

Whilst men reigned supreme in a crew ratio of 42:1, women stuck together in ‘WAPS ally’, planning pranks and parties to even the score!
