WILLIAM FAWCETT and HMS Queen in 1837
Medium: Watercolour on paper heightened with white, gum arabic and bodycolour
The painting depicts what was most probably a fictitious meeting between the sailing warship HMS QUEEN and the 206-ton paddle-steamer WILLIAM FAWCETT which made the first Peninsular Steam sailing to Spain and Portugal in 1835.
