Description:
The iron paddle steamer MADRID was launched at Blackwall in 1845 and operated on the Iberian Peninsular and Italian services. MADRID was wrecked in 1857 when she struck a reef entering Vigo. Passengers, crew, mail and specie were all safely discharged but attempts to refloat the vessel were unsuccessful.
