At the 70th annual meeting of shareholders, held at the Company's offices in 122  Leadenhall Street, London, in December 1910, the then Chairman, Sir Thomas Sutherland, described P&O as becoming "somewhat of an old Company, but I trust, not an old-fashioned Company!"

There was certainly nothing old-fashioned about the Company's commitment to new ships, new technologies and ever greater improvements for the benefits of passengers on board.
