Books Galore!
8/22/2012 7:45:24 AMAs 2012 marks the 175th anniversary of P&O, we have been working on a number of books to honour the occasion.
P&O - A History is a new small book from the Shire Library by Ruth Artmonsky. This is currently available to buy through Shire Publications.
P&O Heritage has also just released a coffee table book, P&O: Across the Oceans, Across the Years, which is richly illustrated with over 200 images of treasures from our collection. It takes a look back at the company during the age of empire and a bygone time when travelling P&O captured the imagination of writers from Thackeray to Noël Coward.
In addition the book takes a curator's tour of the company's art collection which dates back to P&O's foundation in 1837. The result is an engaging homage to one of the most famous companies afloat, in its 175th anniversary year.
